By the Students for the students
Recently, four students set out to answer a very interesting question, "How do we better reach students?" These students would hold a survey to answer this question.
The week before Thanksgiving, Jarren Keller, Lucy Kramer, Tristan Belgarde, and Brigham Jessen set up a survey with some pretty simple questions.
Do you go to events on campus?
How do you get the information for the events on campus?
How would you like to get this information?
Here are their findings.
129 people were surveyed with the following demographics:

60 Traditional Students (attended college directly after graduating High School).
31 Non-Traditional Students
19 Faculty and Staff Members
19 Community or Family members of students
We will focus on the first 2 demographics in this article.
Survey takers were then asked how often they attend events.

Non-Traditional Students answered:
6 attend events all the time
13 attend every few days
6 attend every few weeks
1 attends every few months
3 almost never attend
2 never attend
Traditional Students answered:
12 attend events all the time
14 attend every few days
16 attend every few weeks
5 attends every few months
12 almost never attend
1 never attends
This information was important to set the stage with the following questions.
Next, those taking the surveys were asked what events interest them. This information was used to gauge interest in certain events that are held on campus.
Out of the 91 Traditional & Non-traditional Students surveyed:
59 answered that club activities interest them the most
23 answered that athletics interest them the most
6 answered that alumni events interest them the most
The next question was the most important one for this survey as we asked all participants where they gain the most information
Now, each participant was allotted 3 choices out of the list we provided as well as an "other".
What were Traditional Students' Top 3?
The Campus Leak
Bulletins and TV Screens around campus
MSU Billings' Social Media

What were Non-Traditional Students' Top 3?
The Campus Leak
Bulletins and TV Screens around campus

All of this information was leading up to the question, "How can we get the information out to you better?" Now, this is another Pick 3 section.
What were the top 3 ways to better reach Traditional Students?
Increase activity on social media
Digital Copy of The Retort

In conclusion, Students are coming to events that they hear about on the Campus Leak, See on bulletins, or hear about on social media.
I hope you all found this article as interesting I found it while I was conducting the survey.
